True Empowerment

“When, in the course of an empowerment, a teacher sets forth the pith instructions and gives an introduction to the ground nature (the spontaneously present, fundamental nature of the mind), it is of course possible for disciples to recognize this through the power of the blessings received. But if this does not happen, they need to gain certainty in it through hearing and reflecting on the teachings – whereby it is understood that all phenomena are the appearances of inconceivable suchness.”

Parting From The Four Attachments

“If you are attached to this life, you are not a true spiritual practitioner.
If you are attached to samsara, you do not have renunciation.
If you are attached to your own self-interest, you have no bodhichitta.
If there is grasping, you do not have the View.”

འཁོར་བ་ལ་ཞེན་ན་ངེས་འབྱུང་མིན།
རང་དོན་ལ་ཞེན་ན་བྱང་སེམས་མིན།

Just As No Darkness Exists At The Center Of The Sun

“Just as no darkness exists at the center of the sun,
To a yogi, universe and beings all arise as deities –
And the yogi is content.

Just as no ordinary stones exist on an island of gold,
To a yogi all sound resound as mantras –
And the yogi is content.

Just as a bird crossing a clear, empty sky leaves no trace,
To a yogi all thoughts arise as the absolute –
And the yogi is content.

In the vastness of awareness not confined to formal sessions,
To a yogi all mediation is relaxed and at ease –
And the yogi is content.

Free from the workings of mind,
I realize that phenomena are the absolute state.
You, my friend, should realize this too.
Don’t trust intellectual teachings –
Recognize that vast and unborn sameness.”

When You See A Lofty Mountain…

“When you see a lofty mountain
Be reminded of the inner view;
The view is the teacher’s mind,
Inseparable from the nature of your own.

When you see a lovely forest,
Be reminded of experiences and realization;
Have no hopes of doubts about them,
They are all the teacher’s play.

When you see a garden of flowers
Be reminded of action, naturally free;
All actions in harmony with Dharma
Are the teacher’s perfect life.

However deluded your thoughts may be,
They are abut products of your intellect.
If you set your thoughts free
Where nothing arises, remains, or ends;
They will vanish into emptiness.
That naked emptiness is the guru:
Primordial wisdom beyond intellect.”
